At 7:09pm Wednesday evening, both the Glens Falls Fire Department (GFFD) and Police Department (GFPD) responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a fire at 33 Frederick Street. Upon arrival, GFFD had the 3-alarm fire call under control within 15 minutes and fully extinguished within 30 minutes.
Two (2) residents were displaced by this fire. No injuries were reported by the residents or fire fighters. No assistance was needed from the Red Cross as both residents stayed with family members.
There were two (2) dogs that got out safely with the residents. However, two (2) cats and (2) rabbits perished.
Even though the fire was contained to the rear of the structure – a kitchen area, there was some heat damage and some smoke damage in other areas of the residence.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by both GFFD and GFPD.
