East Field Summer Pool Hours
The City of Glens Falls is happy to announce that the City Pool at East Field will open on June 26th for the season. The hours of operation will be 12-7 PM Wednesdays-Fridays. On weekends, the hours will be extended to 11 AM-7 PM.
The City’s Recreation Department planned to open on June 18th. However, supply issues have delayed the process. We appreciate the Community’s patience and look forward to a busy season filled with lots of pool time and summer fun!
The City Recreation Department is also looking to hire additional Lifeguards for the summer pool season.
For questions, or for anyone looking to apply for a Lifeguard position, please contact the Recreation Dept at (518)-615-0446 during normal business hours, or eMail them at firstname.lastname@example.org
Haviland’s Cove Swim Area Closed
NOTICE: WATER TO BE TEMPORARILY DRAWN DOWN FOR DAM MAINTENANCE
This summer, Boralex Hydro Operations will need to temporarily lower water levels on the Hudson River upstream of the Glens Falls/South Glens Falls Route 9 bridge.
Routine dam maintenance will require reducing water levels of up to eight feet below the normal operating range. The drawdown is necessary to access the project work site.
Boralex is dedicated to completing this work as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimize impacts on recreational users.
Because of this work, the City of Glens Falls will need to close the swimming area at Haviland’s Cove while the dam maintenance is being performed. Updates on timing of the closure will be released as the project timeline is solidified.
Regardless of the closure, the City’s Recreation Department will again provide swim lessons from June 27th through August 5th at the Glens Falls High School pool Monday thru Friday from 9am to 12pm. To sign up access our website: www.cityofglensfalls.com under Recreation.
Additionally, the pool at our East Field recreation area will open this summer starting Saturday June 26th from 11-7pm. Pool hours will be posted.
The City regrets the inconveniences that this project may present, but unfortunately this long overdue maintenance must be completed this summer.
This project has been reviewed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, US Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and New York State Historic Preservation Office.
Work will get underway in mid-to-late June and is expected to continue throughout the summer. Updates will be available at www.Boralex.com/glens-falls-dam.
