Mayor Collins Announces Federal Funding For Rental Assistance Is Now Available

(Glens Falls, NY, March 8, 2022) Glens Falls Mayor S. William Collins announced today that the City of Glens Falls has $40,000 in Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development funding for rental assistance under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.  The CARES Act provides rental assistance payments for tenants who found it difficult or impossible for them to pay their rent and utility bills when they lost jobs or income because of the pandemic.  Payments under the program are made directly to landlords to whom the back rent or overdue utility payments are owed.

To save on administrative costs for the City, the funding is being distributed though the Warren-Hamilton Counties Community Action Agency and the Family Service Association of Glens Falls. Only Glens Falls residents are eligible for the funding.  According to HUD requirements, household income must be documented. Up to three months of back rent and utilities are covered by the program.   City residents or landlords who wish to receive funding from this program should contact the Warren-Hamilton Counties Community Action Agency at 518-793-0636 and the Family Service Association of Glens Falls at 518-793-0797.
