Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, August 30, milling and paving of Dix Avenue will begin. Milling of Dix Avenue followed by repairs to the road bed will be conducted through Sept. 1. Asphalt paving will begin Sept. 2 and continue through Sept. 10.
Generally, during the milling and paving project, Dix Avenue will be limited to westbound traffic only, between Ridge Street and Platt Street. Eastbound traffic will be diverted down Hunter Street and Lawrence Street.
During milling and repairing, side-street access to Dix Avenue will generally remain open, with temporary closures to through traffic while work is performed at individual locations. Additionally access to individual driveways may be momentarily restricted while operations progress past that property.
During asphalt paving operations, side-street access to Dix Avenue will periodically be closed to through traffic which will be detoured around Dix Avenue. Additionally, access to driveways along both Dix Avenue and side streets will be limited at various times while paving operations take place and during periods of required cooling of the asphalt. Driveways will be reopened as soon as sufficient cooling time elapses.
In an effort to minimize impacts to the community and help bring this project to completion, all residents are asked to try to minimize their travel through the work areas while operations are underway. Additionally, residents are asked to coordinate with the construction team for any special needs or accommodations in advance of the start of work. Further, no vehicles should be parked in the roadway during any of these operations. All side roads and driveways will be reopened at the end of each shift.
This work is extremely dependent on favorable weather conditions. Residents and other stakeholders will be notified of any changes in the proposed schedule.
