[ARCHIVED] Disc Golf at Crandall Park/ Disc Golf Tournament

disc golf tournament

Disc golf is similar to traditional golf, however, instead of using golf clubs and balls aiming for a hole, disc golf players use disc golf discs and aim for a disc golf basket which is a pole extending up from the ground with chains and a basket where the disc lands.

It is played using rules similar to golf. The object of the game is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws, starting from a tee area and finishing with the disc coming to rest in the basket. Players start at hole one and complete the course in order, playing through to the last hole. The player with the lowest total cumulative throws wins.

Disc golf is one of the best lifetime fitness sports. It is easy to learn, a healthy activity, and accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. If you can throw a Frisbee® and you like to have fun, you can play disc golf.

The first nine catchers of the Crandall Park Disc Golf course are installed and ready for play testing!

The course starts in the woods, behind the sledding hill. It's a technical course that is primarily located throughout the woods. At the base of each catcher look for a brick with a painted arrow to see the direction of the next tee. Tees are marked by two small orange wooden stakes. The course is still a little rough so watch your footing. This map is also a draft.

This course is made possible by a grant from Stewart's Shops. Thank you Stewarts! We also have secured sponsorships from Mahoney Notifier, Common Roots, Grey Ghost, Phinney Design, High Peaks Tree Removal, Bay Road Storage and Fountain Square Outfitters. If you need discs, Fountain Square Outfitters has plenty for sale.

We are so grateful for so many members of the community who have volunteered to make this project a reality, especially course designers Jaimen Hume and Jon Hotmer, map designer Sara Frankenfeld as well as the City of Glens Falls Public Works Department! We still have nine more targets, all the tee pads and the signage to install.

If you are looking for a great socially distant activity to engage in, head over to Crandall Park!
