[ARCHIVED] Changes Coming to Haviland's Cove & City Hall Opening Regular Hours June 29, 2020

Havilands Cove

As the City of Glens Falls prepares to open Haviland’s Cove for swimming on June 29th to Warren County residents, visitors will encounter a few changes:

  • The beach will be open from noon to 5 p.m., daily, Swimming is prohibited at any other time.
  • Visitors will be required to check-in as they enter the park and should be prepared to show proof of Warren County residency. Admission is free and there is no charge to park.
  • A maximum of 28 cars will be allowed in the park at one time and drivers will be allowed to park in every other parking space.
  • Swimming will be limited to 75 people at a time.
  • Park patrons are required stay 6 feet apart from other patrons, except those of their own household. When not in the water, park visitors must wear a mask that covers mouth and nose.
  • Blankets will be allowed on the beach but must be kept 10 feet apart from other blankets.
  • Showers and drinking fountains will not be available.
  • Those who refuse to abide by park guidelines will be asked to leave.

These guidelines have been instituted in conjunction with the state’s “New York Forward” directives and are designed to preserve the health and safety of the public during the Covid-19 virus pandemic.

In other virus-related news, Glens Falls City Hall will be open regular hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) beginning Monday, June 29. Visitors to City Hall will be required to check in at the front desk before visiting any City Hall departments. Those visiting City Court should use the lower, handicap-accessible entrance on the side of the building facing the Ridge Street parking lot. Court visitors should take the elevator directly to the third floor and refrain from visiting other floors in the building.

The state has yet to approve large-group events such as festivals. Any large-group events planned for public spaces in Glens Falls such as city parks or streets are on hold until further notice.
