[ARCHIVED] **** NOTICE DATE CHANGE : Join Us for the First Annual Fire & Ice at Crandall Pond****

Fire and Ice

The Fire & Ice event to celebrate the opening of ice skating season at Crandall Pond has been pushed back two weeks until January 31 to better prepare for what is anticipated to be a large crowd.

“The response to the announcement of the event has been amazing and has generated a lot of interest,” said event organizer Diana Palmer, Ward 3 Councilwoman. “We want to make sure we’re ready to accommodate all who want to participate.”

To that end, DPW crews will be installing additional lighting on the far side of the pond to illuminate more of the ice. Additionally, two more weeks of cold weather will allow thicker ice to form, ensuring that the pond can accommodate a large crowd.

Participants will be able to enjoy ice skating, hot chocolate, warming fires and a family friendly, outdoor event that organizers hope will become an annual tradition. The event will start at dusk and continue until 9 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2020. Bring your own mug and ice skates.
