CITY OF GLENS FALLS 

NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL OPEN HOUSE 

COLE WOODS MAKE THE CONNECTION, PIN 1761.01 


PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Information Open House will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Glens Falls Family YMCA located at 600 Glen Street, Glens Falls NY.  The Public Information Open House will start at 6:30 pm and run to 8:00 pm. The purpose of this open house is to outline the project purpose, its proposed location, and to provide other pertinent information, including maps.  

The City of Glens Falls in cooperation with the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is working with the City’s consulting engineer, Greenman-Pedersen Inc. (GPI), the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in developing design alternatives for a project that involves improvements to the existing trail in Coles Woods, from Fire Road to Dixon Road for the purposes of providing access and appropriate surface for bicycle and pedestrian use.

Specifically, the project includes developing a pedestrian/bicycle access along Fire Road on the YMCA /Fire Rink side to the beginning of the trail, construction of a new raised crosswalk on Fire Road/Jerome Avenue intersection, improvements in a designated small parking/bike area by the trail near Dixon Road, provide bicycle racks and informational kiosks in certain designated areas, and bicycle improvements on Dixon Road between the I-87 overpass and Old Forge Road.

The purpose of the open house is to obtain comments on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials, and local agencies.  The City is specifically soliciting comments on the development of alternatives for the project and comments on the project’s social, economic and environmental effects.  This public informational meeting is part of the continuing efforts by City of Glens Falls, the EC, NYSDOT, and the FHWA to encourage public input into the development of transportation projects.

Persons may appear in person or by agent and will be given the opportunity to present written statements and submit other documents concerning PIN 1761.01 – Cole Woods Make the Connection.
