The American Red Cross of Northeastern NY has announced plans to hold its largest local fire safety event of 2019, a signature Sound the Alarm event in the City of Glens Falls. For the second year in a row, the Red Cross is teaming up with volunteers & partners across the U.S. for a two-week push to install 100,000 free smoke alarms in more than 100 cities & towns nationwide. Locally, the Red Cross is joining forces with the City of Glens Falls for a one-day, community-wide event focused on making homes safer & preventing home fire tragedies. On Saturday, May 4th, local volunteers & partners will go door-to-door in Glens Falls, canvasing neighborhoods to install free smoke alarms & help families create home fire escape plans. In order to achieve the goal of installing 1,000 smoke alarms in a single day, the Red Cross estimates they will need approximately 300 volunteers to participate in this event. Volunteer registration is open now at Click Here To Volunteer
