REDC 2018 Awards

The City of Glens Falls was awarded $1.5 million dollars in state funding for the South Street parking garage. Funds will be used by the City of Glens Falls to fund a crucial component that will enable private and public development along South Street to proceed with the construction of a 450-475 vehicle parking structure. This parking structure will provide parking for residents and commercial tenants of the new mixed use building as well as much needed parking for South Street businesses, visitors and shoppers.

In addition to the South Street Redevelopment Grant , the city received a $43,500 grant to work with the town of Queensbury on an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions, develop a climate action plan and an inventory of government vehicles and operations to become designated as a Climate Smart Community. The city’s Sustainability Committee will be working on the initiative.

The city has also received a $100,000 grant for the Henry Street Infiltration and Inflow Study. The City of Glens Falls will complete an engineering report to address the excessive inflow into the Henry Street Pump Station during storm events and identify projects and improvements that will reduce combined sewer overflows and sanitary sewer overflows.
