MEGA CCA Residential Electricity Program

The City of Glens Falls is working with the Municipal Electric and Gas Alliance (MEGA) to explore a new program called Community Choice Aggregation (CCA).  CCA Programs focus on providing electric supply choices while continuing to rely on the delivery service and physical infrastructure of the local electric utility (National Grid).

You and your neighbors increase your individual buying power through a group purchase of electricity.

As a participant in MEGA’s CCA you may:

  • save money on your electric bill
  • avoid sudden spikes in the price of your electricity
  • have access to 100% renewable ‘green’ electricity
  • combat predatory practices of energy telemarketers and door-to-door sales

Even if our community joins MEGA’s CCA you have the choice to opt-out and stay with National Grid for your electric supply or leave the Program at any time without a penalty. There are also opportunities for customers to opt-in to the CCA Program.  The CCA Program is compatible with budget billing, community solar and rooftop solar.

While we do not know the exact price for electricity through the CCA, we will know the price before we must decide if we will continue our participation in the CCA Program.

How does CCA work?  Take a look at ‘MEGA’s CCA 101’ or review the FAQs.
