    Reading the Photographs of the Northern Survey Company of Albany, NY an illustrated talk by Walter Richard Wheeler, architectural historian. C.W. Higgins of the Northern Survey Company, Albany, NY employed itinerant photographers to sell pictures of local homes and farmsteads from 1878 to about 1900. Today many of these photographs remain unidentified, but often notes by the owners or the photos themselves can provide clues. Walter Richard Wheeler is a senior architectural historian at Hartgen Archeological Associates. He has authorednumerous articles on NYS architecture and is currently at work on a book documenting vernacular architecture in the upper Hudson and Mohawk valleys. He is president of the Hudson Valley Vernacular Architecture, on the boards of the Dutch Barn Preservation Society and the Albany County Historical Association, and chair of the City of Troy Historic Review Commission. 518-792-6508
